High School Boys


Portage 68, Windber 49: In Portage, the Mustangs kept their perfect record intact thanks to an 18-0 run during the second half that allowed them to pull away from the Ramblers.

Kaden Claar posted 20 points for Portage, which also received 15 from Andrew Miko.

Windber’s Aiden Gray tallied 15 points with John Shuster chipping in a dozen more.

Berlin Brothersvalley 88, Northern Bedford 37: In Berlin, Pace Prosser netted 26 points, Craig Jarvis scored 19 points and Ryan Blubaugh had 18 points as the Mountaineers pulled away from the visiting Panthers.

Berlin (5-3) made 11 3-point field goals, including three apiece by Prosser and Jarvis and two by Miller. The Mountaineers opened on a 24-9 run in the first quarter and outscored the Panthers 35-4 in the second to lead 59-13 at halftime.

Brooks Snider had 10 points for Northern Bedford.

Harmony 71, Blacklick Valley 69: In Nanty Glo, the Owls had three players score 20 or more points and went 20-of-25 on the free-throw line in a victory over the host Vikings.

Cohlton Fry had a game-high 24 points for Harmony (6-2). Jack Bracken had 22 points, and Anthony Maseto had 20.

Cody Williams scored 19 points and had five of Blacklick Valley’s nine 3-pointers, all in the fourth quarter. Rudy Lanzendorfer had 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Aaron Gdula had 12 points for the 7-2 Vikings.

Central Cambria 80, Chestnut Ridge 68: In Ebensburg, Daric Danchanko led the way with 24 points while fellow Red Devil Hobbs Dill added 23 in a win over the Lions. Zack Ford chipped in 15 points – all on 3-pointers – in the win.

Matt Whysong’s 26 points led Chestnut Ridge, which saw Christian Hinson log 17 points.

Conemaugh Township 75, Conemaugh Valley 35: In Davidsville, Jackson Byer had 22 points, Ethan Black had 12 points and Tanner Shirley netted 11 as the host Indians beat the Blue Jays.

Jon Updyke had 12 rebounds and nine points for the 6-1 Indians.

Noah Miller led 5-3 Conemaugh Valley with 19 points.

Ferndale 46, North Star 34: Bruce Moore scored 21 points and Ian Conway had 10 points as the host Yellow Jackets won for the fourth time in five games.

C.J. Biery had a team-high nine points for 5-5 North Star.

Ligonier Valley 79, Steel Valley 77: In Munhall, Matthew Marinchak made a layup with 2 seconds left in the game to give the Rams a narrow WPIAL section win over the Ironmen.

Marinchak led Ligonier Valley with 32 points and eight rebounds. Dylan Rhoades had 12 points, Jaicob Hollick had 11, and Haden Sierocky netted 10 points and had eight rebounds.

The Ironmen’s Makhai Valentine led all scorers with 41 points. Crude Brookins also added 21 points for Steel Valley.


Bishop McCort Catholic 66, Forest Hills 55: In Sidman, Trystan Fornari scored 23 points and the Crimson Crushers used a 21-9 third-quarter advantage to take the lead in a win over the host Rangers.

Mason Nash tallied 18 points, Colby Cannizzaro had 11 points and Colin Stevens had 10 for the Crimson Crushers.

Dylan Pasquerilla had a game-high 26 points, including eight 3-pointers, for the Rangers. Jeremy Burda had 10 points.

Penn Cambria 65, Chestnut Ridge 51: In Cresson, Garrett Harrold led the Panthers with 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a victory over the visiting Lions.

Easton Semelsberger and Mason McCarthy each had 14 points, with McCarthy pulling down seven rebounds for 10-1 Penn Cambria.

Vinny Chirdon tallied 11 points off the bench for the Panthers. Nate Whysong led Chestnut Ridge with 14 points, and Christian Hinson added 12 points.

Richland 57, Somerset 38: In Somerset, Griffin LaRue had 21 points to pace the Rams in a road victory over the Golden Eagles.

Trent Rozich had 17 points, and Sam Penna netted 15 for Richland.

Caleb Platt led Somerset with 13 points, and Aiden VanLenten had 10 points.

High School Girls


Bedford 59, Bishop Carroll Catholic 45: In Ebensburg, Sydney Taracatac scored 22 points and Natalie Lippincott had 16 points as the Bisons defeated the Huskies.

Savannah Smorto and Madison Ostinowsky led Bishop Carroll Catholic with 10 points each.

Blacklick Valley 62, Harmony 45: In Nanty Glo, Kristin Szymusiak scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds as the host Vikings beat the Owls.

Kaydence Killnger netted 12 points and had eight rebounds and four steals. Morgan Slebodnick had 10 points, eight assists and five steals.

Sherri Kephart had a team-high 22 points for Harmony.

Penns Manor 49, Cambria Heights 26: In Patton, Meghan Dumm scored 17 points, and Kate Hnatko had 16 as the visiting Comets defeated the Highlanders.

Alyssa Altemus added 10 points for 9-2 Penns Manor.

Bryce Burkey tallied 10 points for 4-5 Cambria Heights.

Penn Cambria 55, Chestnut Ridge 24: In New Paris, Crossman had 15 points and B O’Donnell scored 11 as the Panthers beat the host Lions.

The 11-1 Panthers limited the Lions to a combined four points in the middle quarters and pulled away.

Belle Bosch had 12 points for Chestnut Ridge.

Conemaugh Township 36, Conemaugh Valley 26: In Davidsville, Mya Poznanski scored 20 points, including 11 of 13 on the free-throw line, as the host Indians beat the Blue Jays.

Mya Nanna had 12 rebounds and five blocked shots. Jenna Brenneman had 11 boards and five blocks.

Anna Gunby led Conemaugh Valley with 12 points, 17 rebounds and five steals. Hailey Stiffler had 10 rebounds, and Emma Grecek had seven rebounds and six steals.

Ferndale 42, North Star 41: Deajah Chatman netted four of her 10 points in the overtime session as the host Yellow Jackets edged the Cougars.

Angelina Wagner had 16 points for Ferndale, which won for the first time in seven games.

Abby Barnick had 21 points, and Grace Metz had 17 points for 1-8 North Star.

Ferndale led 23-19 at halftime, but North Star used an 8-2 third-quarter advantage to lead 27-25. The game was tied at 35-all through regulation. Ferndale posted a 7-6 advantage in overtime.

Portage 43, Windber 35: In Portage, Sydni Sossong scored 11 points as the Mustangs held off the rival Ramblers.

Gina Gaye led Windber with 10 points.

Portage improved to 8-2 overall, 3-0 in the WestPAC. Windber is 5-3, 1-1.

Turkeyfoot Valley at Shanksville-Stonycreek, 6 p.m.

West Mifflin 60, Ligonier Valley 46: In West Mifflin, Savaughn Wimbs scored 16 points and Emily Beck added 12 points as the host Titans defeated the Rams.

Haley Boyd led Ligonier Valley with 17 points, and Madison Marinchak had 10 points.

Westmont Hilltop 48, Greater Johnstown 17: Christianna Gordon had 12 points, Corissa Krall had 11, and Olivia Berg scored 10 as the Hilltoppers defeated the visiting Trojans.

Meeya Gause led the Trojans with 11 points.

Richland 56, Somerset 22: Jordyn Kinsey scored 19 points and Julianna Stem had 11 points as the host Rams defeated the Golden Eagles.

Mia Rosman led Somerset with 12 points.


Laurel Mountain

Richland 8, Conemaugh Valley 1: Jack Lorence had a goal and four assists, and Aidan Thomas and Gabe DiCamillo each scored two goals as the Rams beat the Blue Jays.

Gavin Lafferty, Noah Brydon and Connor Bethmann also had goals for Richland (7-6-0).

Logan Lambertus netted Conemaugh Valley’s lone goal.

Jonah Horner made 13 saves for Richland. Conemaugh Valley goaltender Broderick Ryan had 51 saves.
