AUSTIN, Texas – St. Francis junior Sara Phelan added to the shortlist of Red Flash all-Americans with a 21st place finish in Friday’s women’s javelin competition at the NCAA National Championships.
“Sara has handled this week and its build-up with confidence and poise,” said St. Francis coach Doug Hoover. “She represented St. Francis University and her team extremely well. The experience of making the national championship is going to pay huge dividends next year.”
Phelan, who became the first female in program history to qualify for the national championships with her record performance in the East Preliminary, recorded a top throw of 42.82 meters on Friday to rank ninth in her heat and 21st overall, good enough to land on the USTFCCCA honorable mention all-America team.
