Now the Nittany Lions’ legendary coach is getting some attention as well.

Paterno is a semifinalist for the George Munger Award for college coach of the year.

Also on Wednesday, Penn State linebacker Paul Posluszny was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the outstanding defensive player of the year.

The lists, which were released by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee, include 12 candidates for each national award.

Paterno, in his 40th year as Penn State’s head coach, has led the Nittany Lions to an 8-1 record this season.

Posluszny leads Penn State with 94 tackles and ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 10.4 tackles per game.
