Pitt-Johnstown’s hopes for a dual-meet title came to an end this afternoon with a 19-15 loss to Minnesota State-Mankato in the quarterfinals of the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals.
After beating Central Missouri 37-7 in the opening round, coach Pat Pecora’s fifth-seeded Mountain Cats fell to fourth-seeded Minnesota State-Mankato. Brandon Reasy (133 pounds), Kyle Keane (165), Mike Corcetti (184) and Patrick Walsh (197) picked up victories against Minnesota State-Mankato, but it wasn’t enough.
Derrek Bosso (125), Shane Valko (141), Adam Whetstone (149), Albert Miles joined Reasy, Keane, Corcetti and Walsh with victories over Central Missouri.
The Mountain Cats are scheduled to face either Indianapolis or West Liberty in the consolation bracket later in the day.
