KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Ferndale Area High School graduate Trey McGough recorded his third scoreless outing on Wednesday to help the Rookie Advanced-level Bristol Pirates prevail 7-4 over the Kingsport Mets.
The left-handed hurler, who is 1-0, retired all six batters he faced in the sixth and seventh innings. McGough fanned three batters and threw 15 of his 23 pitches for strikes.
McGough, the Pirates’ 24th-round selection this past June out of Mount St. Mary’s, lowered his ERA to 1.50 through four games, all in relief. The southpaw has racked up 10 punchouts in six innings, compared to just four hits and one walk. Lefties are hitting just .143 against McGough.
