NEW YORK – Ty Flowers tallied 21 points as Long Island edged St. Francis 75-70 in overtime on Saturday.
Long Island scored the final five points in overtime to prevail. St. Francis' Myles Thompson buried a 3-pointer with 1:06 left in the extra period to force a 70-all tie, but Long Island's Alex Rivera answered with a trey on the next possession to take the lead for good. Rivera came up with a steal, but turned the ball over himself with 21 seconds left.
St. Francis missed a pull-up jumper with 12 seconds remaining. Tryn Flowers made two foul shots with 10 seconds left to ice the game.
Eral Penn had 15 points and seven rebounds for Long Island (5-9, 2-2 Northeast Conference), which earned its fifth consecutive home victory. Kyndall Davis added 11 points. Isaac Kante had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Ramiir Dixon-Conover scored 21 points and dished out five assists for the Red Flash (4-11, 0-4), who have now lost six games in a row. Maxwell Land scored a career-high 20 points and snared eight rebounds. Marlon Hargis had 10 points. Mark Flagg pulled down 14 rebounds and blocked two shots. Jeriah Coleman blocked three shots in 12 minutes.
