St. Michael 4-8, Nanty Glo 0-7: In Sidman, host St. Michael won both ends of a Cambria County American Legion League doubleheader against Nanty Glo on Sunday, taking the first game 4-0 and the second 8-7.

Five Saints’ players, Seth Richardson, Nick Peretin, Sam Cobaugh, Kirk Bearjar and Drew Mehall, had two hits apiece in the opener. Winning pitcher Adam Cecere, who supplied a two-run homer in the third, struck out five with two walks, and scattered four hits.

Brandon Frank had two hits for Nanty Glo.

In the second game, the teams combined for 11 errors.

Peretin and Mehall each had two hits while Evan Kundrod added two knocks for St. Michael (15-2). Richardson picked up the win, scattering seven hits with five strikeouts, one walk and just one earned run.

Ian McGhee had three hits and three RBIs for Nanty Glo (6-10), which also got two hits from Jude Gdula.

Bedford 10, Somerset 0 (6): In Bedford, four Hurricanes – Ryan Mowry, Austin Price, Mercury Swaim and Isaac Whysong – compiled at least two hits as Bedford topped Somerset 10-0 in six innings on Sunday in a Cambria County American Legion League contest. 

Swaim homered and drove in three runs. Whysong chased home two runs. Mowry produced three hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Price doubled twice, scored a run and plated another run. Ashton Dull tripled and drove in a run.

Bedford’s Rhett Frazier struck out two batters in five shutout frames.

Avery Heiple produced Somerset’s lone hit, a double.
