After going nearly two weeks in between games, Somerset’s baseball team wasn’t rusty during Monday’s District 6 Class AAA quarterfinal against visiting Johnstown.

The second-seeded Golden Eagles (16-5) had solid pitching, error-free defense and an often explosive offense clicking in a 12-0, five-inning victory over the seventh-seeded Trojans (6-8).

“We came out of a span of 12 games in 13 days, and then we had 11 days off,” Somerset coach Steve Costea said. “After that, we needed the break. It showed (Monday). We came out focused."
