John Malloy went 5-for-5 and reached base six times, leading the for Philadelphia ABCO Phillies past Altoona's Johnston Realty in a winners’-bracket game at Lilly.

Philadelphia (3-0) and Altoona (2-1) were the only two remaining unbeaten clubs out of the 63rd AAABA Tournament’s opening-day lower bracket.



Baltimore 10, Chicago Metro 0 (8)

The Baltimore Youse’s Maryland Orioles limited Chicago Metro Glen Ellyn Jam to one hit on the way to winning a rematch of the 2006 AAABA championship game by mercy rule in eight innings in the morning elimination game today at Point Stadium.

Orioles pitchers thrived with the backing of a very solid defensive effort. Starter Rob Whitley went 5 2/3 innings for the Orioles, allowing just one hit and four walks while striking out three. Aerik Taylor was flawless in relief, pitching 2 1/3 innings with a strikeout. Orioles designated hitter Derrik Gibson drove in three runs and second baseman Nick Natoli plated two more to lead the Baltimore offense.



Buffalo 5, Livonia 2

Matt Haseley and Cael Johnson combined to throw a five-hitter and Cory Brownsten blasted a three-run homer as Buffalo beat Livonia in an elimination game at Roxbury Park.

After giving up a two-run homer in the first, Haseley limited Livonia to three hits over the next six innings before giving way to Johnson, who threw three perfect innings for the save.
