Contest Official Rules

 

The Tribune-Democrat proudly announces the “Bark & Meow Madness” contest. Take a photo of your dog or cat and submit it to The Tribune-Democrat to be part of the Bark & Meow Madness contest which will take place March-May 2022. Photos will appear online and in print. Proceeds from voting will benefit the Newspaper in Education (NIE) program. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 photos in each category.

 


 

1. Eligibility:

All photos submitted must be dogs or cats. No other animal photo will be accepted. Tribune-Democrat employees are prohibited from entering a photo or voting.

 

2. Photo Submission Period:

Photos can be submitted through March 20th 2022. All entries must be received by midnight EST March 20th. The Tribune-Democrat is not responsible for late, lost, misdirected or illegible entries.

 

3. Submitting Photos

Photos can be submitted (JPG) format a minimum resolution of 300 dpi at www.tribdem.com/barkmadness. By submitting a photo, contest entrant authorizes The Tribune-Democrat to publish along with accompanying name and hereby agrees to the official rules. Your photo may be published in affiliated publications of The Tribune-Democrat. Please be sure to submit a clear picture.

 

4. Photo Contest Restrictions:

Photographs must not contain the following:

  • Nudity, lewd or vulgar behavior.
  • Material that violates or infringes another's rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyright infringement.
  • Brand names or trademarks.
  • Photos of artwork without proper license or ownership.
  • Material that is hateful, tortuousm defamatory, slanderous, libelous.
  • Material the promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
  • Material that is unlawful, in violation or, or contrary to the laws or regulations in any state where the photograph is created.

Failure of any photograph to comply with the above restrictions (collectively, the “Content Restrictions”), as determined by The Tribune-Democrat in its sole discretion shall result in disqualification. The Tribune-Democrat has the right to refuse any photo unsuitable for publication. All decisions are final.

 

5. Voting Period:

Voting will begin On Saturday April 2nd, 2022. Each round will last one week, voting deadlines are Wednesday at 10am. In the event of a tie, voting will be extended by one day. Each vote is $0.10 cents. A $1 minimum is required. You may vote as many times as you want and for as many photos as you wish. You may view all photos and cast your votes by going online to www.tribdem.com/barkmadness. Proceeds from voting will benefit the Newspaper in Education program.

 

6. How to Vote :

Online voting

Votes may be cast by going to www.tribdem.com/barkmadness. Online voting is limited to persons 18 years of age or older. There is a minimum of $1.00 for each online ballot. Online votes may be submitted using a valid credit card through PayPal. You do not have to have a PayPal account to use your credit card. An authorized credit card transaction cannot be canceled and is non refundable. If your credit card is declined for any reason, no vote will be submitted on your behalf. Your computer must accept the cookies, or any successor or similar technology which may be used for the purpose of entry tracking. Ad blocking software on your computer needs to be disabled so it doesn't interfere with processing your online entry ballot.

 

Mail-in and Drop-Off Voting:

Voting ballots are available at The Tribune-Democrat Service Center located at 425 Locust Street from 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Please be aware of weekly deadlines of Wednesday at 10am. Ballots can be turned in at this location.

There is no vote minimum for drop off ballots. Readers, friends, and relatives can cast votes for their favorite photo. Votes will be updated manually and will not appear immediately. Please allow delivery and processing time.

 

7. Disclaimer and Indemnification

By participating, entrants agree to the Official Rules and the decisions of The Tribune-Democrat. The Tribune-Democrat reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspects of this contest as solely determined by The Tribune-Democrat. The decisions of The Tribune-Democrat regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the contest shall be final and binding in all aspects.
