New Brunswick shortstop Matt McCourt went 3-for-7 with three runs scored in helping the Matrix go 2-0 in Pool A of the AAABA Tournament on that day and 3-0 overall.

Steve Bloyed and David Cardona made up the battery for New Brunswick in its Pool A game against Columbus at Roxbury Park on Tuesday.

That term – given to a team's pitcher and catcher – was quite fitting, as the duo helped power the Matrix to an 8-3 victory for a 2-0 start in the 73rd edition of the AAABA Tournament.

Altoona’s Zane McCall retired eight straight batters to start the game and tallied two strikeouts heading into the third inning.
