PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Peco Energy has a new virtual hold service to reduce the time you wait on the phone for help.

The next time you call Peco Energy, you’ll be given a choice: Hold for the next available customer representative, or record your name and number and hang up.

When it’s your turn, you’ll be called back to speak with a Peco employee.

Wow. Do you suppose this will actually work this way? How many numbers have you dialed in the past month and wasted precious time waiting to speak with someone?

Then again, how many calls have you made in the past month where you dealt with a recorded message only?
