United Neighborhoods, JARI host community job fair

In October, the United Neighborhoods (UN) of Vision 2025 and JARI and CareerLink hosted the first neighborhood pop-up job fair. Held at Christ Centered Community Church in Kernville, resource providers were on hand to provide attendees with guidance to prepare for a job, and seven job providers attended. Individuals walked away from the job fair with scheduled interviews and the knowledge to attain more.

When this event was planned, the UN expected to get a response from three or four job and resource providers, which is typical for pop-up job fairs. After preliminary recruitment, seven job providers and five resource providers signed up.

Eventually, five more job providers became involved with the event. When asked why they wanted to get involved, one job provider said his company believed dearly in the mission of the event and wanted to see those that attended succeed in their personal and professional lives.

After seeing the positive response from both attendees and providers, the UN decided to plan for additional pop-up job and resource fairs in the city.

Vision 2025 would like to thank all those that attended and the following job and resource providers for assisting in making the event a success:

Exhibitors in attendance included JARI, PA CareerLink – Cambria County, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies, LifePoint Shared Business Services, JWF Industries, Veteran’s Community Initiatives, Inc., United Way of the Laurel Highlands, The Learning Lamp, Qualfon, Firehouse Subs, Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers, Crown American Associates.

Resource agencies providers were Education Assistance, Job Seeker Services, Social Service Support Programs, Job Options, and Record Expungement Information.

The UN is planning to host additional pop-up job fair and resource events.
