NANTY GLO – A 21-year-old Nanty Glo man was jailed Wednesday after being charged with using cash, cigarettes and vape pods to get teenage girls to have sex with him.

Matthew C. Costello, of the 1000 block of Heisley Street, contacted at least two teens, ages 13 and 15, in October and November, the criminal complaint says.

Costello admitted to Nanty Glo police he had sexual contact three times with each of the two underage girls. Locations included Nanty Glo Pool and Park and a vacant home on Lincoln Avenue, the court papers say.

Costello was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi.

Charges in one case include three felony counts each of statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a person under age 16 and corruption of minors, along with three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault of a person under age 16.

The other case brought charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under age 16, aggravated indecent assault of a person under age 16, statutory sexual assault and two counts of corruption of minors.

He was sent to Cambria County Prison after failing to post $7,000 bond, or 10% of $35,000 bail, Zanghi set for each of the two cases.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 27 before Zanghi.
