A Johnstown man was jailed Sunday, accused of attacking a security officer at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, authorities said.

City police charged Martin Joseph Homola, 40, of the 800 block of Steel Street, with aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

According to a criminal complaint, while Homola was in the Emergency Department for a mental health evaluation, he began screaming and cursing and needed to be physically restrained. Homola allegedly kicked a security officer and spit in his face, the complaint said.

Homola was arraigned by on-call District Judge Michael Zungali, of Hastings, and sent to Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $15,000 bond.
