Locust Street crash 5/23/19

A silver Nissan Versa crashed into the rear of a CamTran bus on Locust Street in downtown Johnstown just before 4 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019. The unidentified driver of the Nissan was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Emergency personnel responded to an accident involving a CamTran bus in downtown Johnstown on Thursday.

A silver Nissan Versa crashed into the back of the bus on Locust Street just before 4 p.m., according to Johnstown police. Passengers on the bus were quickly removed, while a second bus was called to the scene to transport riders.

Officer Robert Hayes, of the Johnstown Police Department, said the unidentified driver of the Nissan was suspected of driving under the influence and was taken into custody. Hayes also confirmed that one person received minor injuries and was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

The section of Locust Street between Gazebo Park and Market Street was temporarily closed following the accident.
