Sheesley Supply Co. – part of the community for nearly a century – will close its doors, an owner confirmed Tuesday.

The company, situated at its original location along Horner Street in Johnstown, sells supplies for industrial and construction sectors.

The decision to close was a culmination of many factors, co-owner Tom Sheesley said.

The company, which also had a State College location at 2351 Commercial Blvd. that sold industrial products and concrete supplies, is down to about five employees, he said.

Details, such as a date for closing, are not determined yet, Sheesley said, adding that he expects to have more information in the coming week.

Incorporated in 1916, the shop at 837 Horner St., remained family owned and operated.

According to the company's website, Sheesley Supply Co. sold resources for contractors and homeowners, including a line of concrete products. For industrial applications, the company was a distributor for paint spray equipment, coatings, sand blasting equipment and safety supplies, marking to large and small companies. It also became part of Induserve Supply, a network of independently owned general line, commercial and industrial distributors, the site said.
