A Johnstown woman in her early 20s died Friday following a motor vehicle accident that took place the evening before, according to Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees.

The unidentified female was a passenger on a motorcycle traveling north on Ash Street in Johnstown’s Hornerstown section when it collided with another vehicle traveling from McMillen Street.

Information is limited at this time, Lees said.

Both people on the motorcycle were ejected during the accident, which took place shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Neither was wearing a helmet, according to the coroner.

The individuals were taken by ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Hospital, where the female was pronounced dead at 1:38 p.m. in the intensive care unit.

The name of the female is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The Johnstown Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the Cambria County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
