Chillin' for Charity

Seven nonprofits in Cambria and Somerset counties will benefit from Chillin' for Charity Winter Festival and Arctic Splash on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Quemahoning Reservoir in Somerset County. Freezin’ for a reason

The Chillin’ for Charity Winter Festival & Arctic Splash will be held Saturday at the Quemahoning Reservoir near Boswell.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the plunge to begin at 2 p.m.

The splash will include live music, food, bonfires, horse-drawn carriage rides and costume contests.


Dinner theater

Bedford County Players will present the farce “Drinking Habits” Friday through Sunday at the Bedford Elks Country Club, 937 S. Richard St.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, followed by the show at 7:30.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by the show at 1:30.

Additional shows will be held Feb. 15-17.

Cost is $40 per person and includes dinner and the show.

Outdoor traditions

The Great American Outdoor Show, sponsored by the National Rifle Association, will be held Friday through Sunday at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, 2300 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg.

Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $7 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.


Seasonal beauty

An opening reception for “Slenker & Seasons,” an exhibition featuring Robert Slenker’s iconic industrial assemblages and a nine-panel seasonal mural, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center gallery at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd., Westmont.

The exhibition will be on display through Feb. 23.

Game on

The 2019 Special Olympics Pennsylvania Winter Games will be held Sunday through Tuesday at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion, Somerset County.

The opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Festival Plaza at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

There will be alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at the resort.

Awards and closing ceremonies will be held Tuesday at each venue.


Crochet meeting

The Highland Hookers Crochet Group will meet from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at Highland Community Library, 330 Schoolhouse Road, Richland Township.
