Troopers arrest 1, seek 3 in attempted steel theft

State police arrested one man and are searching for three accomplices in an attempt to steal two expensive rolls of steel that fell from a vehicle at a truck stop near Bedford last week.

Jerod Michael Roberts of Everett, no age available, was charged with theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake and criminal mischief.

Police said the two rolls of steel valued at $15,000 each had fallen off a truck at Flying J Truck Stop on Posthouse Road around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The four suspects were attempting to steal the material by cutting it up, police said.
