The Pennsylvania Republican Party, headed by Chairman Robert A. Gleason Jr. of Westmont, has gotten directly involved in what has become a hotly contested battle for the GOP nominations for Cambria County commissioner.
It apparently is the first time the state GOP has entered the fray in a Cambria commissioners race.
The state party has mailed out large, expensive fliers attacking longtime GOP member Sam Valenty – who was appointed a commissioner early last year – for what the state committee says is his voting and spending like a Democrat.
