State police in Ebensburg continue to search for $1,500 in portable radios stolen nearly two weeks ago from the South Fork Volunteer Fire Company.

Someone stole five portable radios on Feb. 16 after prying open a side door to the building at 520 Church St.

Troopers said they are working to track down the thieves but so far have had no luck.

The Federal Communications Commission has been notified.

Meanwhile, Croyle Township police continue their search for thieves who tried to break into the Summerhill Volunteer Fire Company the same weekend.

“They attempted to break into the main building (at 528 Main St.), but we have heavy duty steel doors and latches,” fire Chief Bob Burkett said.

Damage to the doors is estimated at about $3,000 and is covered by insurance, he said.

The thieves did enter a storage building in back of the main building but didn’t taken anything, the chief said.

Anyone with information on the crimes can call state police at 471-6500 and Croyle Township police at 495-5679.
