Johnstown’s Festival Park has a new name and soon will have a new look, with planned improvements including restrooms, landscaping and a 600-seat pavilion.

After years of planning, work on the $3 million project will get under way within weeks.

That’s because the final piece of the fundraising puzzle – a $500,000 donation from Peoples Natural Gas – was announced on Monday.

The Johns Street property now will be called Peoples Natural Gas Park.

And, once upgrades are complete, administrators expect that the site will host far more than the annual AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival.
