A coroner says the decomposed body found in a pickup truck submerged in a western Pennsylvania river is that of a Pittsburgh-area man reported missing four years ago.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco says the dead man is Dennis DeRenzo of Fallowfield Township. DeRenzo was 26 when his wife reported him missing on Sept. 13, 2005.

DeRenzo’s body was found Saturday in a pickup his mother had reported stolen. The truck was submerged in the Monongahela River, near California, Pa. Crews were towing a vehicle that had slipped into the river when they found the pickup containing DeRenzo’s body.

The body was identified using dental records. Warco says he’ll rule on the cause and manner of DeRenzo’s death after forensic experts examine the remains.
