More former and current staff members of Republican state Sen. Jane Orie are expected to testify in her public corruption trial in Pittsburgh.

The key witness in the case is Orie’s chief of staff, Jamie Pavlot, though she’s not expected to testify until later this week.

Orie is accused of using her state-funded legislative staff to illegally do campaign and fundraising work for herself and her sister, Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin.

Melvin isn’t accused of wrongdoing, but a third sister who works as Melvin’s aide, Janine Orie, is also on trial. She’s accuse of conspiring to use the senator’s staff during Orie’s Supreme Court campaign in 2009.

The trial is expected to last until at least next week.
