A Johnstown man was jailed Friday after Stonycreek Township police said he raped a 5-year-old girl.

In a court document, Stonycreek police said Lee Calvin Kearns III, 22, of the 800 block of Central Avenue, assaulted the girl Wednesday at a residence on Kegg Avenue.

The girl’s father found Kearns on top of the girl in a bedroom, police said.

Kearns was charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, attempted rape, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Kearns has a criminal record in Cambria County.

Records show he was sentenced on March 30, 2010, to three years probation after pleading guilty to theft by extortion.

Kearns was arraigned Friday by on-call District Judge John Barron of Upper Yoder Township and sent to the Cambria County Prison on $60,000 bond.
