Hidden Valley Resort will open its slopes this weekend by treating skiers to an extreme discount on lift tickets.

Tickets will cost just $10 today and Sunday, resort spokesman Keith James said.

“We’ll have a minimum of five slopes and trails to get things kicked off,” said James, marketing consultant for the resort.

At least five slopes and trails will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

The decision about skiing on the weekdays will be made Sunday.

James said the slopes have a 10- to 12-inch base, including about 7 inches of natural snow. With the cold temperatures, snowmaking is continuing.

Snowtubing at Outback Park will not open this weekend as the resort continues to prepare the terrain, he said.

The $10 lift tickets are among the lowest being offered for the season. By comparison, daytime lift tickets at Hidden Valley typically cost $45 on the weekends.

Skiing began Friday at nearby Seven Springs, where the slopes will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Sunday.

The snowtubing park at Seven Springs is expected to open around noon today, and a long-awaited new terrain park and Superpipe is nearing completion, a resort spokesman said.
