A Johnstown man faces drug-related charges after authorities said he forged prescriptions to obtain the painkiller oxycodone from area pharmacies.

City police allege that 32-year-old Ryan Matthew Kalinyak stole prescription notes from Dr. Richard Green of Johnstown.

Kalinyak allegedly forged a signature and passed the prescriptions in at least four drug stores during March and April.

Kalinyak paid $954 for 1,440 30-milligram oxycodone pills, most of which were obtained with forged prescriptions, police said.

They believe he intended to sell some of the medication.

Kalinyak was charged with theft, forgery, drug possession and criminal attempted acquisition by misrepresentation.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Michael Musulin of Johnstown.
