Fire investigators are trying to find out what started an early morning fire that killed a central Pennsylvania woman and injured her husband over the weekend.
Crews were called at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday to a home in Altoona, where neighbors reported flames shooting from the front and back of the house.
Relatives said the husband was injured trying to rescue his wife, who used oxygen tanks because of health problems.
Authorities haven’t released her name but family members said she was about 67 years old. Her husband was flown to UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh for treatment of burns.
Altoona Fire Department inspector Tim Hughes told The (Altoona) Mirror (http://bit.ly/1ntNhBb ) that the cause remains under investigation, but the oxygen tanks were responsible for the fire’s rapid growth.
