Everything is coming up roses.
Former Johnstown resident Carol Kahl and her business partner, Stephanie Prescott, both of California, are again producing and writing the entire two-hour live coverage of the 123rd annual Tournament of Roses Parade from Pasadena, Calif.
Kahl is the supervising producer and Prescott is the coordinating producer for Universal Television.
The parade will air at 11 a.m. Monday on NBC, ABC and the Hallmark Channel.
Kahl and Prescott have worked on the Tournament of Roses Parade for more than
25 years. They have received four Emmy nominations in the past seven years since the coverage has gone international.
The parade, with the theme “Just Imagine,” will feature
43 floral floats that are completely covered with natural materials.
There also will be 21 marching bands from throughout the nation and as far away as Japan and Sweden and
20 high-stepping equestrian teams.
The women begin planning for the parade in September.
In addition, Rebecca Peruso, a senior at Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C., will participate in the parade as a member of her school’s marching band.
She is the daughter of Michael Peruso and Brenda Schreyer Peruso, formerly of Echo and Franklin Borough, and the granddaughter of Russell and Barbara Peruso of Wesley Chapel and Paul and Toots Schreyer of Franklin Borough.
