An Adams Township man who hauls barrels of clean water weekly to his home has filed a lawsuit in Cambria County court against a Marcellus Shale drilling company.

The suit alleges that his well water was contaminated by the company’s drilling/exploration near his property.

Chester John Slesinger of Saddle Club Road – who is joined by his wife, Edith, in the legal action – is represented by attorneys Emily Collins and Oday Salim.

They are with the University of Pittsburgh Law School’s Environmental Law Clinic.

The lawsuit seeks compensation not only for the couple but also for the costs of remediation of alleged hazardous substances under the state’s Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act.

The lawsuit names T&F Exploration LP and T&F Operating Inc., both of Upper St. Clair, Allegheny County, as defendants.

T&F did not return a request for comment.

The lawsuit apparently is the first filed here stemming from Marcellus Shale exploration or drilling, the court administrator’s office said.
