More local ties have been connected to the 103rd Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, California, as Cresson-area native and “The Voice” finalist Josh Gallagher is scheduled to perform before the game.

“This is pretty sweet,” Gallagher said about performing at the Rose Bowl on Monday.

The annual bowl game will feature a highly anticipated matchup between Penn State and Southern California.

Gallagher is a big Penn State fan and attended the Penn State Greater Allegheny campus as a baseball recruit, but decided to leave the school and head to Nashville in hopes of pursuing a country music career.

As it appears that things have come full circle for the Penn Cambria graduate, he’s excited to make his way to Pasadena to perform.

“It’s going to be fun,” he said,

“I can’t wait.”

Gallagher believes that his performance will take place in front of the Rose Bowl stadium.

He said the setup will have the feel of a “VIP Voice Live Experience.”

“It’s going to be pretty cool,” Gallagher said.

“They’ll have a couple of the coaches’ chairs from the show there for people to sit in and take pictures with. People will also have a chance to meet me and take some photos.”

The country singer said that he plans to play it by ear during his 20-minute set. “I’ll be doing like four or five songs and I’ll probably play a lot of the songs that I played on the show,” he said.

While Gallagher is unsure of exactly what songs he will sing on Monday, he is confident that those in attendance will have a good time.

“It’s going to be fun and upbeat,” he said. “It’s going to be cool for people to see me play live and not through a television screen.”
