State Rep. Frank Burns, D-East Taylor Township, discusses a variety of issues during a meeting at The Tribune-Democrat on Wednesday.

Central Cambria School District will be receiving $119,517 for transportation costs after an error was discovered in the state’s reimbursement mechanism, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-East Taylor, announced in a press release Wednesday.

A series of audits identified clerical errors in the Department of Education’s process that led to the inaccurate payments of $8.4 million in reimbursements to schools statewide, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale’s office found.

“This back pay from the state ensures that local tax dollars are kept where they’re needed most – directly benefitting our children in the classroom,” Burns said. “I’m happy to make sure that state funding that is rightfully theirs is coming back to Central Cambria.”
