Cambria and Blair counties each reported more than 200 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths on Friday, as the state approaches 300,000 total cases, the Pennsylvania Health Department reported.

There were 6,809 new cases and 108 additional deaths across the state, bringing Pennsylvania’s totals to 295,786 cases ad 9,689 deaths associated with COVID-19.

Friday's new-case total was the state's second-highest since the pandemic hit Pennsylvania in March, down slightly from Thursday's record 7,126 new cases.

Across the region, Cambria County added a record 214 new cases and four deaths to reach 2,877 cases and 32 deaths.

Somerset County added 63 cases and has 1,165 cases and nine deaths.

Blair County added 233 new cases and four deaths to reach 3,105 cases and 49 deaths.

Bedford County added 44 cases to reach 247 cases and 12 deaths.

Indiana County added 64 cases and two deaths to reach 2,062 cases and 31 deaths.

Clearfield County added 61 cases to reach 1,076 cases and eight deaths.

Centre County added 91 cases and five deaths to reach 5,502 cases and 33 deaths.

Westmoreland County added 189 cases and eight deaths to reach 7,097 cases and 158 deaths.
