McDONALD – William R., 84, Lilly, passed away Sept. 25, 2009, at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. Born April 18, 1925, in Portage, son of the late Anna (Buczynski) McDonald. Survived by wife, Donna (Agnes-Selip) McDonald, Lilly; children, Yvonne, and husband, Edward Krug, Loretto; Gregory, and wife, Beverly (Salmons) McDonald, North Carolina; William McDonald, Florida; and Shawn, and wife, Annette (West) McDonald, Portage; stepsons, David Scott, and wife, Debbie Selip, Lilly; and Troy Allen Selip, Cresson; grandchildren, Jason and Rachael (Marks) Krug and Greg and Lauren McDonald; stepgrandchildren, Nichole and Laken Selip and Alex Selip; stepgreat- grandson, Devin Selip; favorite sister-in-law, Roberta Claar; favorite caretaker, Joyce Little; and companions, Tara Lea and Big Al. Bill was an Army veteran with the 1st Army Ninth Infantry Division, 47th Regiment Second Battalion Co. E. Second Platoon, First Scout Infantry Squad. He earned France, Belgium and Germany Combat Infantry badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, four Presidential Unit Citations, ETO ribbon with three Battle Stars. He was chosen as honor guard for Gen. George Pattons funeral in Luxembourg. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly, where memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. John J. Bennet, followed by military service by Lilly American Legion and Lilly VFW. Committal will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Humane Society of your choice in Bill’s memory or Lilly Decorating committee.
