MASCUCH – John Charles, 93, Johnstown, died peacefully at his home Sunday, April 27, 2008. He had been in declining health for the last few years. Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Johnstown, son of Michael and Anna (Zahradnik) Mascuch. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Margaret Rose (Datko) Mascuch, who died on Oct. 21, 1967; brother, Julius Maschue; and sisters, Elizabeth “Sis” Tertinsky, Mary Schad and Anna Fishter. John is survived by children, Patricia Ann, married to William J. McKim, Gibsonia, Pa.; Teresa Ann, married to Randall H. Schumacher, Arena, Nev.; Anita Marie, married to Mark R. Gunkle, Irwin, Pa.; and Michael John Mascuch, Pittsburgh, Pa. John is the loving grandfather “Pap Pap” of John Randall Schumacher, Amanda Marie Gunkle, Andrew Ralph Gunkle and Michael Jerald Schumacher. Also survived by sister-in-law, Jennie Maschue of Hooversville, Pa., and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. John was a World War II Army veteran, who served in various locations in the Pacific Theater. In his early years, he attended St. Stephen’s Church and School. Retired carpenter and avid woodworker and craftsman. In the past few years of his life, he spent much of his time at the homes and in the care of his son and daughters. A parish member, with over 50 years of dedication, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Johnstown, where funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Committal, St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends received Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Benedict Catholic Church, in memory of John Charles Mascuch.
