HIPP – Charles J. “Chick,” 87, Johnstown, died Oct. 14, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Nov. 7, 1920, in Johnstown, son of Charles J. and Julia (Schneider) Hipp. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Clayton; and sisters, Laura Sheehan, Julia Fisher and Charlotte Keiper. Survived by wife of 68 years, Gail Eppley; daughter, Susan Roberts, Duluth, Ga.; grandchildren: Courtney DeBord and Aaron Roberts; and great-grandchildren, Alina and Michael Debord and Ayden and Ian Roberts; also nephew, John Sheehan, and wife, Shirley. Life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a choir member for 25 years and former council president. Air Force navigator during World War II. Retired composing superintendent at The Tribune-Democrat with 48 years’ service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Intern Pastor Jerri Morton. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
