“Women Working in the End-Time Harvest” is the theme of a women’s conference to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the Church of God, 601 Messenger St., Johnstown.

Pulaski Day to be celebrated with Mass
The Polish Heritage Council will sponsor Pulaski Day with a Polish Mass to be celebrated at 4 p.m. today at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Avenue, Portage.

Blessing services for animals scheduled
In honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the following will hold blessing services for animals:
St. Rochus Roman Catholic Church parking lot, Chestnut Street and Eighth Avenue, Cambria City section of Johnstown, 2 p.m. today.

Grace Lutheran Church, 201 E. Main St., Stoystown, 3 p.m. today.
Pets must be caged, haltered or leashed and under control at all times.
Donations – including canned food, money for dog beds, jars of creamy peanut butter, treats, rawhides, cat toys, paper towels and Clorox – will be accepted for the Somerset County Humane Society.
Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 337 Elknud Lane, Westmont, during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.
Pets need to be on a leash, or in a carrier, a cage or bowl.
There will be a display of animal and pet pictures and their names will be included in a blessing.

Service to honor emergency personnel
Conemaugh Township Area Ministries will hold a service to honor firefighters and medical-emergency personnel and police officers for their time and talent at 2 p.m. today at St. David’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 401 N. Main St., Davidsville.
Following a blessing for those who serve, there will be a picnic and fellowship.

Missionaries to speak at Roxbury St. Paul’s
Nick Lakatos, a missionary from Mexico with OMS International, will speak during the 8 a.m. Sunday praise service and the 10:30 traditional service at Roxbury St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 160 Derby St., Johnstown.
Jim and Alice Vanderhoof, missionaries from Kenya with World Gospel Missions, will speak at 7 p.m. Friday.
Jerry and Sherry Murphy, missionaries from Honduras with World Gospel Missions, will speak during the 8 a.m. Oct. 12 praise service and 10:30 traditional service.
Noah’s Park to open at Franklin Street UM
Noah’s Park will open Sunday at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Franklin and Locust streets in downtown Johnstown.
Noah’s Park, a renovated Children’s Missionary Center, will offer a biblically based approach to worship with singing, puppets and stories for kindergarteners through fifth-graders at 8:30 a.m. Sundays during the contemporary worship service in the main sanctuary.
Alice Gemus is the program coordinator.
The church’s child-care center, adjacent to Noah’s Park, will provide child care for infants through age 4 during the worship service.

Revival begins Tuesday in Waterford
The Christian Church of Waterford will host its fall revival Sunday through Tuesday with fellowship, music and preaching to affirm and deepen personal faith.
Marvin Whiteman, a blind pianist, songwriter and vocalist, of Wellsburg, W.Va., will be the music evangelist. He performs contemporary and traditional gospel music.
Minister Samuel Batten will deliver the 9:30 a.m. Sunday message, “The 11th Commandment.”
Rufus Peer of New Salem Christian Church will speak on “What God Doesn’t Know” at 7 p.m. Sunday; George Umphlett of Laughlintown Christian Church will deliver the message, “Christian Living in a Non-Christian World,” at 7 p.m. Monday; and Bob Long of Laurel Highlands Church of Christ will preach on “I Want to Have a Servant’s Heart” at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The church is located on Nature Run, 1⁄4 mile from Route 271 in the village of Waterford.

Fellowship sets Love Feast, Communion
Way of Hope Christian Fellowship will celebrate a Love Feast and Communion with contemporary and traditional music and fellowship at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Beka House, 5977 Somerset Pike.
The Rev. Rob Rummel will lead the service and deliver the message.
A covered-dish lunch will be served.

Roxbury church announces schedule
The Rev. Brian N. Simmons, pastor of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown, will speak during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.
His sermon, “The Rejected Stone,” is based on Matthew 21:33-46.
The Cathedral Choir will sing “He,” accompanied by organist Ruth Corle.
Sunday school will begin at 9:30.
A Love Feast and Communion service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday with pianist Arbutus Blough.
Provisions have been made for those unable to kneel for the feet-washing service and a staffed nursery will be available.
Bible study will begin at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Maple Spring books guest speaker
Mike Dunlap will speak during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple, R.D. 1.
His sermon is titled “More Powerful Than I.”
Church plans Mass, anointing service
A Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 536 Decker Ave., Johnstown. During the Mass, an anointing of the sick will be held. The anointing is intended for those faithful whose health is impaired by sickness or age.
Blue Mass to be celebrated Wednesday
A Blue Mass to honor police and firefighters will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at SS. Casimir & Emerich Roman Catholic Church, 501 Power St. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
A light social will follow in the church hall.
Administrator to speak in Thomas Mills
Rich Rohde of Hollsopple will speak at 7 p.m. Sunday at Thomas Mennonite Church, Thomas Mills.
Rohde is the administrator for HOLD the Children (HTC) and is project coordinator for Mission Discovery.
Thomas Church Male Quartet will provide music.
Recital series to feature minister
The Rev. Beth Brashear, a soprano, will be featured during a recital series at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, 415 Vine St., Johnstown.
The concert is free. It will be followed by a light lunch.

The Institute of Integrative Medicine at Windber Medical Center will present a guided labyrinth walk from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Windber Medical Center, Somerset Avenue.

Holy Cross sets rite of healing service
Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 711 Chestnut St. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown, will hold a rite of healing at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The service centers on confession, absolution and anointing of the ill with oil.
Morning prayers are held at 6:45 Wednesdays, and Sunday worship begins at 9 a.m.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays and feast days.
Ministries planning family skate
Light House Morning Star Ministries in Cherry Tree will sponsor a family skate from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Indiana Skating Rink.
Cost is $2 and includes skates.

Author will speak at St. Mary Antiochian
Matthew Gallatin, author of “Thirsting for God in a Land of Shallow Wells,” will deliver a presentation, titled “Light from the East: The Spirituality of the Early Christians,” at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 111 Alberta Ave., Upper Yoder Township.

Family Life Office to host program
A program, titled “Speaking and Listening,” sponsored by the Family Life Office of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 14 at the office, Route 53, Lilly.
Sister Marilyn Welch, CCW, will facilitate the program for those who want to learn how to listen and be listened to.
There will be video clips, question-and-answer session and practice using the speaker-listener technique.
Registration is necessary and must be received by Tuesday.
