Gospel music fest in Somerset
The 27th annual Maple Mountain Gospel Music Festival will begin at noon today and 1 p.m. Sunday, with a morning service at 10, at Bakersville Community Grove, 2340 W. Bakersville-Edie Road, Somerset.
The Starliters Gospel Music Ministries of Berlin is sponsoring the festival.
Some of the soloists and groups appearing are Loretta Hummel of Frostburg; Kaitlyn Frampton of Bakersville; Don and Patty Werry of Mount Pleasant; the Rev. Alfred Gallaher of Homer City; Gail Pearney of West Newton; the Winebrenner Family of Lonaconing; Janet Libengood of Penn Run; Wayne Hedlund of Johnsonburg; Betty Callihan of New Paris; the Matieszyn Family of Berlin; Deborah Holsinger of Altoona; Betty Riecks of Jefferson; Leona Betton of Brookville; Linda Creps of Bakersville; God’s Ambassadors of Meyersdale; The Weimers of Mill Hall; Joyful Praise of Quecreek; The Browns of Meyersdale; Margaret Kinch of Oakland; and Carol Pletcher of Somerset.

Berlin church to have guest speaker
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., Berlin, will host the Rev. John F. Roth of Miami at its 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday services.
Roth is a fifth-generation Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pastor and represents Food for the Poor, an interdenominational charity based in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
The organization serves the poor in 14 island nations of the Caribbean and Central America.

Way of Hope to hold outdoor service, picnic
Way of Hope Christian Fellowship will hold its first outdoor worship service and picnic at 10 a.m. Sunday at Quemahoning Recreation Park, Quemahoning Dam Road, Hollsopple.
Christina Rummel will lead praise singing and worship and the Rev. Rob Rummel will deliver the message, followed by Christian Baptism.
A picnic lunch will follow. Providing a covered dish and drinks is encouraged.

Mount Sinai plans special celebration
Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 111 Cambria St., Johnstown, will celebrate its annual Women’s Day Ministry at 11 a.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Donna Williams of Heavenly Ministries will speak.
The Rev. Jeremiah Hunter is the pastor.
Wesley UM books gospel group
Cloud of Grace, a gospel music group, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Main and Church streets, South Fork.
The theme will be praise and worship music.
Tire Hill church schedules service
Tire Hill Church of the Brethren, 665 Tire Hill Road, will hold a praise and worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Tent crusade, worship service set
The ninth annual Bedford County Tent Crusade and worship service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday under a tent at the Apple Bin Restaurant, 1600 Quaker Valley Road, New Paris.

Kenyan visitors to offer information
William and Margaret Obaga, members of Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church, will share information about their church and culture during two events.
Camp Sequanota will host “Meet the Obagas” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Route 985 North of Route 30, Jennerstown, in the pavilion at the grove.
Laurel Mountain Lutheran Cluster will host the event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church in New Centerville.
The Obagas are postgraduate students studying in St. Paul, Minn.
William Obaga is completing a master’s degree in church music and Margaret Obaga is completing a master’s degree in pastoral care. Their son, Robert, is a counselor at Camp Sequanota in Jennerstown.

Guest minister will speak in St. Michael
The Rev. Michael Childs of Cranberry Township will speak at Park View Alliance Church in St. Michael during the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service.
Old-time service on tap in Ebenburg
An old-time Scottish service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, 200 N. Center St., as part of Ebensburg’s Homecoming Weeekend.
Pastor Jim Farrer’s sermon will be “Demanding a Speaking Part,” explaining the worship innovators secured by the Scottish Presbyterians.
Bagpiper Duane Mohney will lead a procession into the worship place.
The congregation will sing psalms.
