Fellowship collecting items for care kits
Way of Hope Christian Fellowship is collecting items for hygiene kits as a Lenten project.
Specific items will be collected over seven Sundays.
The kits will be given to Church World Service for distribution in disaster areas.
In place of items, monetary gifts will be accepted to defray the cost of shipping.
Pastor Robert Rummel has challenged the congregation to fill more than 200 kits.
A potluck lunch will be held March 16 to assemble the kits.
The fellowship meets at the Beka House, 5977 Somerset Pike.

Men’s fellowship plans breakfast
A men’s fellowship breakfast will be held at 8 today in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 525 E. Main St., Berlin.
A “Life After Life” video will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Champion Life sets auditions, series
Champion Life Church, 1311 12th Ave., Altoona, will hold auditions from 1 to 5 p.m. today for keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, vocalists and other instrumentalists.
A five-week sermon series, “Life’s Intersections,” will begin at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
The sermon series will encourage everyone to experience success in all areas of their lives.
A luncheon will follow the first sermon series.

Walnut Grove to install pastor
The Rev. Ron Barto will be installed as pastor of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, 1068 Bedford St., Johnstown, during the 10 a.m. Sunday service.
District Minister Ronald D. Beachley will deliver the message.
A covered-dish meal will follow the service.
Pastor to deliver messages on Sunday
The Rev. Brian N. Simmons, pastor of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown, will deliver the message “Temptations of Jesus,” based on Matthew 4:1-11, at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.
The choir will sing “God Is Our Refuge and Our Strength,” directed by Melanie Shiley and accompanied by Ruth Corle.
Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m.
A covered-dish dinner will follow the service.
Simmons will speak during the joint Lenten service of the area Churches of the Brethren at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 856 Benshoff Hill Road, Johnstown. The service will begin with a hymn sing at 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
He will deliver the message “My God and Your God,” based on Ruth 1:12-17.
Charles Allison will discuss the book of John during the 7:15 p.m. Wednesday Bible study.
Calvary UM to host West End hymn sing
The churches of the West End will hold a hymn sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 159 Chandler Ave., Johnstown.
A social time with refreshments will follow.
Church to hold soup, Lenten service
Christ Lutheran Church, 337 Elknud Lane, Westmont, will hold a soup and Lenten service at 6 p.m. each Wednesday through March 12.
Berlin Brethren to host Lenten service
The congregations of Holy Trinity, Berlin Brethren, Trinity United Church of Christ and The Three Seasons Community Church will offer a Lenten service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Berlin Brethren Church, 620 Main St.
Morning Star sets skate night
Morning Star Ministries in Cherry Tree will sponsor a Christian skate night from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Indiana Roller Rink.
Youth groups and families are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day and the love of Christ.
Cost is $2 per person.

Weekend planned for married couples
A Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and end at 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at Toftrees Resort & Conference Center in State College.
Marriage Encounter is a time for married couples to focus on each other.
