Pa. absentee ballots due by 5 p.m. today

HARRISBURG — Absentee ballots must be received by county election bureaus by 5 p.m. today, Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro A. Cortes said.

“With the increase in registration and the surge in excitement about Pennsylvania’s primary, we’re especially committed to making sure voters know their rights and responsibilities,” Cortes said. “We want to remind first-time absentee voters they must include a copy of an approved form of identification with their voted ballot if they did not do so with their request for an application.”

Some exceptions to the deadlines apply to military, overseas and emergency absentee voters.

The deadline to apply for absentee ballots was Tuesday.

In addition, Cortes is reminding voters who registered for the first time, changed address or changed party that they should have received confirmation of registration. He suggested calling county voter registration offices if they have not received such a confirmation or have questions about Tuesday’s primary.
