CUNNINGHAM – Robert Thomas Sr. “Tom,” 88, Vinco, went to be with the Lord June 18, 2014. Born May 12, 1926, in Johnstown, son of the late George A. and Lola F. (Hickman) Cunningham. Preceded in death by sister, Jane Prudence Cunningham; and grandson, Brian P. Cunningham. Survived by wife of 67 years, the former Faye Dishong; and children, Robert T. Jr. (Karen) Cunningham, Sheree (Forest) Wassum and Anita (Irvin) Meredith; grandchildren, Jeremy, Erika (Nick), Sean (Beth), Carly (Ben), Gregory, Jenna (Benaiah), Hayley and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Micah and Wesley. Also survived by sister, Helen L. Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Longtime member of Pike Grace Brethren Church, Mundys Corner, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, elder and was a member of the school board at Cambria County Christian School. World War II Army veteran. Retired pressman for The Tribune-Democrat. Tom took courses from Hadleys School for the Blind and was recipient of the Braille Student of the Year in 1992. He enjoyed listening to books on tape and listening to sports of all kinds. “… Absent from the body… present with the Lord.” – II Corinthians 5:8. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pike Grace Brethren Church, Pastor Rudy Sheptock, officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Pike Grace Brethren Church Mission Fund. Arrangements by Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo.
