ALEX - Rose M. (Bencze), 93, of Church of the Brethren Home, Windber, passed away Sept. 13, 2007, at the home. Born March 27, 1914, in Windber, daughter of Louis and Julia Bencze. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph L. Alex; and sisters, Julia Miller and Betty Balogh. Survived by daughter, Esther, wife of Steven Patrick, Windber; granddaughters, Rose, wife of Jim Rifilato, and Karen, wife of Robert Hall; and great-grandchildren, Jamie and Annie Rifilato and Steven and Patrick Hall. Rose formerly worked for the election board of Paint Borough. Former member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Windber. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. BAUGHMAN - Charles J., 71, Windber, died Sept. 13, 2007, at Golden Living Center, Richland. Born March 15, 1936, in Windber, son of the late Dr. Charles and Teressa (Hughes) Baughman. Survived by sons, Kevin and Bradley, both of California, and six grandchildren. Brother of Barbara Holovka, Windber, and Tressa, wife of Anthony Ercole, Hershey; also numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck formerly was an auto salesman. At his request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Service at the discretion of the family. Arrangements by Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber.

BEATTY - Mary Louise, 90, Johnstown, formerly of Dale Borough and Richland Towers, died Sept. 11, 2007, after a 10 1/2-year-long courageous battle from a severe stroke. Family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Geisel Funeral Home, Dale, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Geisel-Devlin Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Emily Byrd. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.

CHOPICK - Katherine M. (Ketchesin), 83, Dunlo, died Sept. 11, 2007, at home. Born Dec. 9, 1923, in Houtzdale, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Phillips) Ketchesin. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Steve; brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Michael; and sisters, Ann Chopick and Helen Nemic. Survived by her children, Katherine Troy, Loretto; Steven, Dunlo; Shirl, wife of Ron Smigla, Johnstown; Pat Posea, and companion, Barry Cigich, Johnstown; and JoAnn, wife of Tom Tubbs, Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. Sister of Mary Krenisky, Cleveland, and Walter, Ohio. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Beaverdale, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Father Albert Ledoux. Committal, Dunlo United Methodist Cemetery. EICHENLAUB - Ronald F. Sr., 69, of Spindley Road, Gallitzin, died Sept. 11, 2007, at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus. Born April 22, 1938, in Spangler, son of the late Paul and Josephine (Dziabo) Eichenlaub. Survived by his children, Ronald F. Jr., married to Gina MacFalls, Bellefonte; Lisa Eichenlaub, and fiance, Robert Hanna Jr., Houtzdale; and Daniel, married to Teresa Stehley, Altoona; grandchildren, Alexander and James Eichenlaub, Michael Pulcine, Kelly Pulcine, Brett Eichenlaub, Damien, Meranda and Alyssa Dongell and Brandon Metzgar; great-grandchildren, Angel Pulcine, Aliyah Garlock and Nevin Pulcine; brother, Richard (Audrey) of Arkansas; a special aunt, Matilda Stock of Gallitzin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ron was an avid hunter and fisherman. A 1957 graduate of Gallitzin High School. He worked for Stanley Electric and J.C. Penney Co., Altoona. At Ron's request, there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, the Rev. Sean Code. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery, Gallitzin. FRICK - Evelyn K., 84, Atrium Manor, formerly of Ferndale since 1922, died Sept. 13, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center, Main Campus. Born Oct. 8, 1922, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Owen P. and Anna T. (Haggerty) Burns. Preceded in death by husband, Vincent "Pat," who died in 2002, and sister, Rosemary Klott. Survived by these children: James V., Chambersburg; Charles E., and wife, Mary T., Erie; Mark P., and wife, Joyce, Greensburg; and Robert O. of Meadville; also seven grandchildren. Mrs. Frick was employed by Carneigh Equipment and Conrad Wholesale. Member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, the Rev. Father Angelo J. Patti. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Geisel Funeral Home, Dale, where vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday.

GORDON - Shirley J. (Leventry), 70, Johnstown, lifelong resident of Lorain Borough, recent resident of Laurelwood Care Center, died Sept. 12, 2007, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born Nov. 11, 1936, in Johnstown, daughter of Carl and Margaret (Fisher) Leventry. Preceded in death by parents; and sisters, Edna, married to Chester Querry, and Bessie, married to the late Michael Sakmar. Survived by daughters, Cindy, married to Patrick T. Kepple, and Carol, married to Vernon Uadiski; grandchildren, Lindsay (Kepple), married to Kenneth Elstner, and Patrick G. Kepple; and great-grandchild, Austin Elstner. Also survived by brothers, Roy Leventry, married to Lois, and Jack Leventry, and friend, Patsy; and sisters, Mary Ellen, married to the late George Mortimer, and Ida, married to the late James Firm. She was a graduate of Ferndale Area High School and a member of the Moxham Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker. She especially enjoyed sewing, baking and spending time with family. WHITEHEAD - Ruth, 93, Johnstown, died Sept. 10, 2007, at Good Samaritan Nursing Care Center. Born May 21, 1914, in Clayton, Ala., daughter of Ada and Will Walton. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James, who died in 1998; and brothers, Wilmack and Arthur Walton. "Ruth B" is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was active in the community as a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she served as financial secretary, as a trustee and as an active participant in the Golden Leaf Club. She was a member of Mecca Temple 294 IBPOE of W as a daughter member. An active member and secretary of the Hightopper Club. A retired employee of Goldstein, Stein and Levine (Kay Artley) in downtown Johnstown with 25 years' service. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of Blessing funeral service at 11 a.m. at Moskal Funeral Home, West End, the Rev. Calvin McCray, celebrant. Committal will follow at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
