BARANIK – Mary (Hanyok)

BARANIK – Mary (Hanyok), 83, of Bay Street, Glens Falls, N.Y., died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at her home. Born on May 16, 1924, in Barnesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Patrick) Hanyok. Mary married the late Paul Baranik in 1948 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Gary Baranik, and daughter-in-law, Paulette Baranik. Survivors include her children, Russell Baranik, and his wife, Eileen, of Las Vegas; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Baranik and Christopher Baranik, and his wife, Andrea; her daughter-in-law, Doris Baranik; her brothers and sisters, John Hanyok, Bob Hanyok, Fran Young, Helen Novak, Marge Kostick and Betty Karanick, and many nieces and nephews. Mary retired from the restaurant industry in Brooklyn. She graduated from Barnesboro High School and loved to travel and visit her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed writing letters and sending cards to keep in touch with her family and friends. She also loved flowers, nature, reading and listening to music. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, N.Y. 12803. E-mail condolences may be sent at www.kilmers.com. Prayer services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Deacon William Bazinet officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.



BROOKS – Dorothy H.

BROOKS – Dorothy H., 90, of Jackson Township, passed on Aug. 31, 2007, at her residence. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Barron K. Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, Central Region, Cambria Unit, 351 Budfield St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904 in memory of Dorothy.



EVANS – William R. “Bill”

EVANS – William R. “Bill,” 67, of Colver, was released from this life and flew home to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2007. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.



GILES – Lois E.

GILES – Lois E., 81, Westmont, died Aug. 30, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., Downtown, 514 Somerset St., and will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 111 Willow St., for the funeral service. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.



KOHLER – Mary M.

KOHLER – Mary M., 92, Windber, passed away Sept. 2, 2007, at the Regional Hospice of Windber. Born July 7, 1915, in Windber, daughter of John Sr. and Mary (Shernigo) Kohler. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John Jr., Joseph A., Michael T. and Steve F. Kohler; and sister, Anna (Kohler) Siska. Survived by son, Robert J. Kohler of Windber, and grandchildren, David M. Kohler and Teresa M. Kohler. Also survived by brother, George Kohler, and wife Betty, Windber; sister-in-law, Mary Kohler, Windber; and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired waitress from Monte Carlo Restaurant, Johnstown, and former employee of Johnny Jacks Sewing Factory, Windber. Member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Matthew Misurda. Committal, church cemetery, east end. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regional Hospice of Windber in Mary’s memory.



REBER – Edward Todd “Ted”

REBER – Edward Todd “Ted,” 39, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and formerly of Patton, passed away Aug. 27, 2007, in Colorado Springs. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery.



VULETIC – Douglas “Shorty”

VULETIC – Douglas “Shorty,” 85, Johnstown, died Sept. 1, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 8, 1921, in Johnstown, son of Vaso and Stana (Kallinick) Vuletic. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Mitchel Kay, Gus Zedlar, and George and Joseph Vuletic; sisters, Helen Vuletic and Anna Kay Hayden; and brother-in-law, Nicholas Marguccio. Survived by loving wife of 56 years, Antoinette (Costa) Vuletic, Johnstown; daughter, Maria, married to James E. Kiepert, Davidsville; granddaughters, Marissa and Jamie Kiepert, both of Philadelphia; brother, Miles Vuletic, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Michael Hayden, California; Samuel, married to Frances Marguccio, and Guy Marguccio, both of Johnstown; also numerous nieces and nephews. Served in the Merchant Marines, U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Retired from the Gautier Division of Bethlehem Steel. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with Pomen at 7 p.m. at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Dejan Obradovic. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Military graveside rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment Marine Corps League.
