A Westmont man was jailed Friday after police said he threatened to kill four adults and four children with a handgun.
West Hills Regional police said Robert Raymond Rose, 30, of the 800 block of Carnegie Avenue, is accused of making the threats at
10:45 p.m. Thursday.
Rose is also alleged to have chased four people with a knife, police said.
Police charged Rose with eight counts each of attempted aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
In addition, he is charged with two counts of simple assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, five counts of resisting arrest and one count of disorderly conduct.
Rose was arraigned by on-call District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $15,000.
Shade man charged with assaulting woman
CENTRAL CITY – A Shade Township man faces criminal charges after authorities said he assaulted a woman and then threatened to shoot himself.
Justin Michael Wirick, 26, of Central City, was charged Friday with simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
State police in Somerset said Wirick assaulted the woman Dec. 27 inside a home on Bunker Hill Road.
Troopers said Wirick grabbed the woman during a domestic dispute.
Wirick then grabbed a loaded shotgun from the bedroom and threatened to shoot himself, but left the residence, troopers said in a criminal complaint.
Troopers spoke with Wirick on Wednesday and had him admitted to Somerset Hospital for an evaluation.
Bridge lights will honor hockey game
Johnstown Area Heritage Association said the Stone Bridge’s lights will be supporting the Tomahawks Charity Classic at the Cambria County War Memorial on Wednesday.
The benefit game will pit the Johnstown Tomahawks playing against some Pittsburgh Penguins hockey players.
Half the bridge will feature Penguins colors and half Tomahawks colors, and the lights will remain on until 11 p.m.
The bridge lighting schedule also includes:
- Through Sunday: New Year’s rainbows.
- Monday: Red and green for Orthodox Christmas.
- Tuesday: Blue for winter.
- Thursday through Jan. 17: Blue for winter.
- Jan. 18-20: Patriotic light show for Inauguration weekend.
- Jan. 21: Red, white and blue for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The lighting time has been adjusted to 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. as the time of sunset gets later.

“A Johnstown Day in Lakeland, Fla.” will be held Feb. 23 at the Cleveland Heights Golf and Country Club in Lakeland.
