In brief: Hastings driver killed in crash

HASTINGS —
A young man was killed when his car left Grace Street in Susquehanna Township at about 1 a.m. Sunday, struck a rock and came to rest on the passenger side, leaving the driver trapped.
State police at the Ebensburg barracks withheld the victim’s name, but an obituary identifies him as Brandon J. Mikitko, 24, of Hastings.
State police said the investigation is continuing.
Show features judge candidates
Cable TV will feature the three candidates for two open Cambria County judgeships.
“Meet the Candidates for Judge’’ will air at 6 p.m. today on the government access station, channel 14. The Rotary Club of Johnstown is hosting the show featuring Linda Rovder Fleming, Gary Jubas and Patrick Kiniry.
Trucker charged with assault
STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP – Terry M. Tomlinson, 51, of Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, was charged with aggravated assault after state police say he got into an argument while talking on a citizens band radio, stopped his truck and waited to assault his foe.
Troopers said he punched Roger Lafferty, 34, several times in the head and face, causing Lafferty to lose consciousness. Lafferty was admitted to Memorial Medical Center.
2 accused of public drunkenness
INDIANA – Borough police arrested two young adults for public drunkenness in two separate incidents in Sheetz stores after midnight on Halloween night.
In the first, a Virginia man was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after spitting on the floor at the store on Wayne Avenue.
Charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct is Andrew J. Wagner, 20, of Arlington.
In the second incident, police said they tried to help at the store on Fourth Street as medics were trying to remove a female passed out on a toilet.
Police arrested her and took her to the borough station, where they released her to an adult.
Charged with public drunkenness is Sarah Weiss, 23, of Monongahela.
Trio sought for throwing objects
HOLLIDAYSBURG – State police in Hollidaysburg are looking for three men, all white males in their early 20s, who over the weekend were throwing objects at trucks as they were moving on old Route 22 in Duncansville .
One has brown hair and was wearing a striped hoodie sweatshirt. Another was wearing a blue and black striped shirt and a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap, and the other was wearing a black T-shirt with the logo, “I didn’t climb to the top of the food chain to become a vegetarian.”
