Robbers sought in Somerset heist

SOMERSET — State police are searching for three unidentified suspects in a strange robbery early Thursday in Somerset Township.

Authorities said the robbers escaped with an undetermined amount of cash and cell phones after tying up two women and a man in a house along Lowry Road.

During the investigation, drugs and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside the home, police said.

“It was probably drug-related,” state police Trooper Ted Goins said.

Goins declined further comment while the investigation continues.

No charges have been filed against the occupants of the home or the intruders.

State police said Tammy Mayhugh, 43, of Somerset reported that three unknown suspects arrived about 1 a.m. at her home, in a quiet neighborhood just outside of the borough off Waterlevel Road.

The suspects argued with Charlie Grant, no age listed, of Norristown, Montgomery County, then bound Mayhugh, Grant and Tarrmie Arntz, 47, of Somerset.

Authorities did not say how Mayhugh managed to escape and call police.

No injuries were reported.

“We’re trying to sort things out,” Goins said.
