SOMERSET – Drivers should see some minor inconveniences, but no detours, as a Westmoreland County contractor carries out $2.2 million in minor rehabilitation work to 15 bridges on Route 219.
Swank Associated Cos. Inc. was the low bidder for the bridge work, according to PennDOT.
The project consists of removing and replacing existing neoprene expansion joints above the piers on 14 of the 15 bridges. Work on the 15th bridge consists of replacing the drain trough and cleaning the drainage system.
The project is expected to begin by mid-June and be completed in August.
Hearing set for man suspected of indecent assault
A Hornerstown man faces a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges he indecently assaulted two women and two girls at two stores in Richland Township on May 5.
Martin Charles Podrasky, 61, of the600 block of Wood Street, was arraigned before the on-call magistrate, District Judge Michael Musulin of downtown Johnstown, and lodged in the Cambria County Prison in lieu of bail.
The hearing will be at District Judge Max Pavlovich’s office in Richland Township.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Richland police, Podrasky indecently touched a girl at Wal-Mart in the Richland Town Centre and then did the same to a girl and two women at Giant Eagle on Scalp Avenue.
Indian Lake residents asked to conserve water
INDIAN LAKE – Due to painting of the Cherry Lane water tank, Indian Lake Borough residents may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water for the next four to six weeks beginning Monday.
Residents are urged to conserve water and not water their grass or vehicles during that time.
Civic association plans cleanup in 7th Ward
The 7th Ward Civic Association and Crime Watch will hold a cleanup day Saturday.
Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the civic building at Oak and Cedar streets. Volunteers will be assisted by Youth Build of Goodwill Industries. Gloves and bags will be provided.

Event will provide information on osteoporosis
A free Osteoporosis Awareness Day event will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Community Room of John P. Murtha Neuroscience and Pain Institute, 1250 Scalp Ave., Richland Township.
The public is invited to attend and learn about the risk factors, financial impact and disabilities that can result from osteoporosis. Participants also will play a game geared at teaching people more about the potentially devastating disease.
Lunch will be provided.
Seating is limited. To reserve a seat, call 269-5232 by Friday.
Ebensburg will continue summer playground program
EBENSBURG – Participation in the nine-year-old Ebensburg summer playground program is dwindling, but Borough Council members voted recently to continue the program for another year.
The playground program will run from 9 a.m. to noon starting June 16.
The program will be at Memorial Field on Mondays, at the Center Ward Playground on Wednesdays and at the East End Playground on Fridays.
Electrical wire stolen from Middlecreek barn
ROCKWOOD – State police are looking for whomever stole 200 feet of 12-gauge electrical wire from a barn in the 4100 block of Kingwood Road, Middlecreek Township.
The thief or thieves entered the barn of Charles Bowers between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, troopers said.
Thieves steal mowers from Route 403 business
INDIANA – Someone used a pickup to steal two mowers from Tony’s Small Engine Repair on Route 403 in Cherryhill Township business late Friday, state police in Indiana said.
The thieves made two trips to take the mowers, which were on display, troopers said. Apparently the pickup got stuck at one point, and the driver spun the tires to exit a ditch into which the truck had backed.
