A first-entry team of firefighters were able to immediately quell a minor fire sparked by a wood-burning furnace Monday morning.
Firefighters from four nearby departments assisted Boswell Volunteer Fire Department in responding to the fire call at 8:10 a.m. at 583 Lincoln Highway in Jennerstown, Assistant Chief Mike Sopich said, declining to give the owner’s name.
The fire started from a woodburning furnace in the basement, where a few stray sparks ignited some nearby newspaper. The fire was contained to the basement and Sopich said the damage is estimated between $100 and $200.
