A Florida newspaper executive with 24 years of industry experience will become The Tribune-Democrat’s new publisher.
Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. on Wednesday announced that Robin Quillon will take the Tribune’s top administrative post Feb. 18.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the fine team at The Tribune-Democrat,” Quillon said in a written statement issued through CNHI, the newspaper’s parent company.
Quillon currently works for Georgia-based Morris Communications Co. as a regional director of nine newspapers in the Jacksonville, Fla., area.
His past jobs included a stint as publisher of the News Chief in Winter Haven, Fla. Quillon also was vice president and general manager of The Frederick News-Post in Frederick, Md.
CNHI administrators said Quillon’s newspaper experience includes 16 years as a publisher or regional publisher.
A native of Charlottesville, Va., Quillon is married and has four children.
“Having this opportunity to work in and serve the Johnstown community is indeed an honor,” Quillon said.
“I look forward to getting involved in the community and knowing its leaders, so that we can discuss ways we can improve and serve their needs better on a daily basis.”
Quillon succeeds Chris Voccio, who left The Tribune-Democrat in October after more than three years as publisher. Voccio since has founded The Pennsylvania Republican, a monthly newspaper, and has announced his campaign for the state House 72nd District seat.
